Are you looking for the BEST ways to make your home smell good and fresh? Then read this blog post!
One of the best compliments to receive is, “you smell so good!”
Likewise, you want your home to receive the same compliment. Your home is your nest, sanctuary, and the place you love.
It should be treated with love, respect, and kindness.
Here are a list of 9 ways you can honor your home and make it smell AMAZING!
9 Life-Changing Ways To Make Your Home Smell Good
1. Put a bowl of baking soda in your fridge and add drops of Lemon essential oil
Now, hear me out.
Making your home smell amazing doesn’t just have to do with what you add but also what you take away.
Putting a dish of baking soda in the fridge with lemon essential oil will help neutralize the scent in the fridge. This way, when you open your fridge, instead of smelling food, you will have a fresh, clean scent.
2. Clean your garbage disposal
This is a BIG one. Your home can smell amazing, but if your garbage disposal doesn’t have a great scent, it can throw everything off.
Luckily, there are amazing and simple ways to clean your disposal!
I’ve written more about it here, or you can watch the video below to see how I clean my garbage disposal.
It could not be easier, and the end result is a gorgeous, clean scent!
Which, in turn, makes your whole space smell better.
3. Soy Candles
There are a wide variety of candles out there.
One of my favorite candle scents is Anthropologie. They smell amazing and are strong.
But since I’m sensitive to scents, I don’t normally have candles in my home.
The benefit of candles from Anthropologie is that, since they are so strong, you can smell them even when they aren’t lit.
You could also go for an all-natural, lightly scented soy candle if you do want one going.
4. Natural Room Sprays
I’m not talking about Febreez. Personally, I’m not a fan of the scent.
I’m talking about beautiful, fresh room sprays that are made with natural ingredients.
You can either make your own, using water and essential oils, or you can buy one.
5. Put Dryer Sheets In Your Trash
When you do this, it helps absorb some of the scents from the garbage.
Just like with the baking soda in the fridge, it’s not just about adding pleasing scents; you also want to take away the lesser ones.
6. Simmer Orange Slices, Cinnamon Sticks, And Lemon Peel
Simmer these ingredients on the stovetop, and your home will smell incredible! This is a great way to make your nest smell clean, fresh, and homey, without any sort of artificial smell.
I love using natural things like this in a home because it changes the energy in your space. It’s like your home feels happy that it smells so good.
7. Hang Eucalyptus In Your Shower
Aromatherapy is one of the most powerful ways to help your mind, body, and soul, in my experience.
Hanging eucalyptus in your shower not only looks beautiful, but it smells incredible too.
The heat from the shower helps the scent become stronger, and breathing in that scent feels healing and peaceful.
Make sure to change it out as needed.
8. Add Bathbombs Or Small Soaps To Your Clothing Drawer
This is one of the best ways to make your clothes smell AMAZING and fresh!
Choose a bath bomb or small soap (that is wrapped) and then tuck it into your drawer with the clothes you want.
Make sure that the clothes aren’t touching it so that you don’t get the oils on your favorite top.
This is a great idea for your pajama or loungewear drawer.
I don’t do this with silks or clothing that I want to wear out because I don’t want that smell to clash with perfume if I choose to wear one that day.
9. Fresh Air
One thing that is so simple that it is often overlooked is getting fresh air into your home. Open your windows and doors (if you have a screen), and let beautiful fresh air flow through your home.
There are few better scents that nature brings, whether saltwater, pine, vanilla, flowers, fresh cut grass, or rain.
I love having my windows and doors open in the summer, especially at night. You can smell flowers so fragrant you almost can’t believe they are real, and the softest breeze rolls in and kisses each piece of your home.
Everything felt lighter and enlivened when you do this, and I just love it! This is one of my favorite ways to make your home smell good.
I hope you enjoyed this post on the best ways to make your home smell good!
